Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups

In addition to our meetings, we have special interest groups that meet regularly. These groups allow for personal exploration and smaller group interaction.

Artsy Tarts

“Artsy Tarts” is an art group formed to learn new and innovative ways of enhancing our quilts or quilted projects, and to discover new and exciting ways to channel our inner artist. Members choose a project for all to work on individually and share ideas with the group. Our group is unique in that we don’t have a designated leader. We each have an opportunity to suggest something new to try. We plan to do many different projects in the future as we learn to look at the world differently and think outside the box.

Happy Hoopers

“Happy Hoopers” focuses on machine embroidery. Our sewing/embroidery machines tend to be large and heavy, so we don’t bring them to our meetings. We discuss a wide variety of topics from needles to notions, bobbins to blanks, stabilizers to software. Recognizing that none of us has all the answers, we specialize in mining group experience to find solutions to our embroidery problems. Each meeting we encourage members to bring their work for show & share. This is a very dynamic group! If you have a sewing machine capable of embroidery, we’d love to have you join us. We even have retreats!

Miniature Group

“The Miniatures” group is for members who wish to learn the art of mini quilts. Most patterns are done on foundation fabric. We meet once a month. If you ever want to tackle a quilt pattern but don’t want to do a huge quilt, this is the group for you!

Sew ‘n Sews

A chance to do handwork and visit with other members in a small group setting. Meetings are held at different member homes each month.

Woolies

We are a group who enjoy wool appliqué. Our monthly meetings give us the opportunity to participate in show ‘n tell, work on our individual projects and get to know each other. In addition to our individual projects, we have group projects and instructors. We are a casual, friendly group willing to share tips, techniques and ideas. If you have an interest in wool appliqué we encourage you to join our group.
